The Blue Cell  a veteran owned Homeland Security & Emergency Management training and exercise firm.  We have been training emergency and consequence managers for more than 12 years.  In 2019 we built the Interactive Training Center in Aurora CO, designed to deliver both in-person and virtual training.  COVID-19 accelerated our move to a virtual program. We have migrated 30 ICS and emergency management courses to a live virtual classroom environment. 

To date we have trained hundreds of students virtually from across the United States, Canada, UK, and IAEM members from around the globe.  Participants in The Blue Cell courses have included key federal agencies such as FEMA, NOAA, Bureau of Land Management, Civil Air Patrol, National Park Service, U.S. Department of Agricultural, U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, Department of the Interior, Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program, DOD, and the military. Online/Virtual Homeland Security and Emergency Management Training

Our online/virtual training program has become greatly popular during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Though we have been training in person for 12 years, the need to shift the execution of courses to online became apparent in 2019.   We met that need by doing face to face virtual classes out of our interactive training center in Aurora, CO.  There are many benefits to our online learning including saving money and time on travel, scheduling the classes at your leisure and especially having an instructor right at your fingertips to answer questions and explore information at a deeper level.  

Our most popular virtual classes are ICS300 (Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents), ICS400 (Advanced Incident Command System for Command and General Staff Complex Incidents), G191 (Incident Command System Emergency Operations Center Interface/ICS EOC Interface), and G2300 (Intermediate Emergency Operations Center Functions).  

Self-Paced Learning Management System

Our Self-Paced Learning Management System allows students to choose classes and get right to work to achieve a certificate at their own pace.  The information provided in these courses is the most up-to-date and provides techniques and strategies to use at your workplace fluidly.  These courses are written with real world situations in mind.  Our most popular Self-Paced classes include BCR IMT01 (Initial Attack to Unified Command), BCR IMT02 (Liaising and Agency Reps), and BCR IMT05 (Operations).

Our full service in person training is second to none.  We are able to provide classes back-to-back to bring your entire department up to speed in a shorter period of time as well as bring materials for your participants to put what they learn in to real world practices.

Melanie Binversie is a Marine Corps wife and mother of three originally from rural Virginia but currently living in Aurora, Colorado. Melanie earned a Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, in Emergency Management and a Minor in Intelligence Studies from American Military University in West Virginia.  Melanie has previously worked for many years in Fire and EMS, as a lab technician and also as a medic at a jail.  She has earned many awards including Fort Belvoir Military Spouse of the Year, Heroes at Home Marine Corps Spouse of the Year.  In her free time Melanie loves to read, write, go camping with her family and travel around the world.
